Relaxation programme for show horses

Find out here how the four-legged friends are pampered in the CAVALLUNA stable.

Contrary to what is often assumed, the horses do not travel from one show city to the next, but are housed in the permanent CAVALLUNA stables between weekends. They are at home there for the entire tour and enjoy a relaxed equine lifestyle.
The horses' daily routine begins with feeding. Every day, the horses are given hay and, depending on their individual needs, muesli two or three times a day, which is specially adapted to the respective needs of the animals. For example, the trick riders' horses are given a high-energy muesli so that they can perform the action-packed tricks at the weekend with plenty of energy and ease. After feeding, the boxes are mucked out and then the show horses are taken to the numerous pasture areas. Here the four-legged stars can relax, graze, let off steam and simply be horses.

Thanks to the two indoor arenas on site, a round pen and the large outdoor riding arena, the facility near Düsseldorf offers enough opportunities to train the horses in the best possible way during the week, despite the different disciplines. This includes light riding of the horses, relaxed lunging and, of course, riding out on the extensive grounds with many meadows. This programme is designed to keep the horses in good physical and mental shape, with the time spent at the facility focusing primarily on recovery.
Before the training even starts, however, extensive grooming is on the programme. There is a large washing area on the grounds and even a solarium for the horses to relax their muscles.

Not only the horses live at the centre, but also their caregivers from the respective teams. As in the tour cities, the riders look after their horses in the CAVALLUNA stables, feeding, mucking out and training them. Only the CAVALLUNA show horses live in the stables near Krefeld and always have the same box neighbours. This allocation is also maintained in the stable tents in the tour cities, so that the horses are always next to their usual neighbours and things are as relaxed as possible for them. Routine is extremely important for horses, they spend most of their time in familiar surroundings, can graze in the paddocks, play and enjoy their lives. The CAVALLUNA stable is a home from home for people and animals alike. Whether Friesians, Lusitanos or Minishettys - they all feel completely at home.
